I love Mac OS X, and I can’t imagine switching operating systems after the massive investments I’ve made in learning the system. I’ve also been using Mac OS since System 7.0 days (yes, before it was cool..)

This is a Mac Pro 2,1 booting Yosemite GM Candidate, which is something I’ve very glad about. Why? Apple officially stopped supporting Mac Pro 1,1 and 2,1 back when 10.8 launched. The only reason? The stock graphics card that shipped with the models weren’t up to the new graphics requirements of the newer operating systems. Oh, and the fact that the Mac Pro 1,1 and 2,1 have 32 bit EFI, despite being 64 bit processors.

Two out of the six computers I use at Transport Evolved are early Mac Pros. I can’t afford to upgrade them, but I can keep using them with these wonderful hacks.

And while some will ask “why upgrade?” I say this: I share out rendering tasks across my machines, so if they’re all running the same OS, it’s far easier…
